New fund to support global music-making
We’re excited to announce the launch of Play On, our new sponsorship fund to support music-making around the world.
Available to organisations and projects in non-UK countries, Play On replaces and builds on our International Sponsorship Fund (ISF), which has provided financial support to a wide range of inspirational music education programmes and projects over the last ten years. You can read more about the ISF in our ISF 10 Year Impact Report.
Administered on our behalf by The Commonwealth Resounds, the new Play On fund will allow us to support a greater number and wider variety of organisations than ever before. We also hope the fund will become a platform for cultural exchange, providing opportunities for recipients to connect, share best practice and learn from each another.
Chris Cobb, ABRSM’s Chief Executive, said: “We’re incredibly proud of everything the International Sponsorship Fund has achieved and are excited about reaching even further. Working in partnership with The Commonwealth Resounds means we’ll connect with new networks and be able to support more learners to experience the richness of music in their lives.”
The Commonwealth Resounds founder Alison Cox OBE said: “I am proud and delighted that The Commonwealth Resounds is able to continue working in partnership with ABRSM to deliver Play On. This will help support the work of those who are running excellent musical initiatives and greatly valued training programmes for people across the globe.”
Applications for the 2023 fund are open from 19 January to 26 February and we are keen to hear from passionate organisations that are committed to creating opportunities for more people to access and make progress in music. Eligible organisations will be able to apply for Play On grants of up to £5,000. They might be providing training for teachers and music leaders, offering high-quality music education, sharing motivational and inspiring musical experiences or helping to address barriers to music learning.
Further details, including how to apply, are available on The Commonwealth Resounds website.
